Set up, calibrate, and operate various saw machines (e.g., band saw, circular saw, panel saw, cut-off saw) according to job orders, blueprints, or technical drawings.
Load and unload materials onto the saw, ensuring proper alignment and secure clamping.
Adjust saw blades, speed, and feed rates based on material type, thickness, and desired cut.
Monitor machine operation to detect malfunctions or quality issues, making adjustments as needed.
Measurement and Quality Control:
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine cutting specifications.
Use precision measuring instruments (e.g., tape measures, calipers, micrometers, squares) to ensure accurate cuts and verify conformance to specifications.
Inspect finished workpieces for defects, burrs, or non-conformance to quality standards.
Deburr, grind, or smooth rough edges and surfaces as required.
Maintenance and Safety:
Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic maintenance on saw machines.
Identify and replace worn or damaged saw blades, drive belts, and other components as necessary.
Adhere strictly to all safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout protocols.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality issues to the supervisor promptly.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED certificate.
1-3 years of experience operating industrial saws in a manufacturing or production environment (type of saw experience may vary based on specific company needs, e.g., metal, wood, plastics).
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
Strong basic math skills and ability to accurately read and use measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.).
Understanding of safety procedures related to operating machinery and handling materials.
Ability to lift and move materials up to 50-70 lbs regularly.
Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Forklift certification is an asset.
