About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Laser Operator to join our production team. The operator will be responsible for setting up and operating Trumpf laser cutting machines to produce sheet metal parts according to drawings and specifications. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality output, machine efficiency, and compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, and operate Trumpf laser cutting machines (TruLaser 3030, TruLaser 5030, TruLaser 3040, TruLaser Tube 7000).
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and part specifications.
- Select materials (steel, aluminum, stainless) and optimize cutting parameters.
- Perform machine adjustments to maintain precision and quality.
- Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
- Conduct routine machine maintenance (lens cleaning, nozzle checks, debris removal).
- Record production data and report any defects/issues.
- Collaborate with programming and engineering teams to troubleshoot and improve setups.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and wear PPE.
Skills & Qualifications
- Vocational diploma (DEP) in machining, metal fabrication, or equivalent.
- 1+ year of experience operating Trumpf laser machines.
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working independently and in a team environment.
- Basic CNC/computer skills (loading part programs).
- Experience with TruTops or Boost software is an asset.
